MONUMENT AVE 10K- TOGETHER

As I always say I was never a runner before but when you have a crazy runner at home you tend to get infected by its virus. I came to Richmond on 09 march 2015 and the winter was almost ending.
before I came to Richmond my husband registered our name in monument ave 10K.
                                                                       EXPO
I had no idea what exactly happen in expo so this was new for me. We enter the parking lot and I can see people with a bags in there hand laughing and excited for tomorrow. We went to the expo, and hubby started explaining what expo is all about.I met his few friends from MTT. We played some spin the wheel games and got our bag full of freebies.Although we got our t shirt of race with bib.
                                                          NIGHT BEFORE THE RACE
As usual because it was my first time running my husband was more excited then me and more concern which he always is. He started his checklist of running clothes, bibs, pins, cap, goggles, camera etc etc . Before this race I never ran not for even a mile so hubby was like we can do the whole run by a walk too you don’t have to run or push your self and I was like it will be okay No big deal thing.
                                                                     THE DAY
P1020054So now it was time to wake up and my jet lag by now was gone, and I m not a morning person either and waking up for run so waking up in early morning that for running was a bit challenging however I woke up and was sleepy ready for the first race and had bagel-egg and juice for breakfast. We did our pre-running photo shoot before going with our bib and all.

                                                              START LINE RUSH
P1020050It was so crowded I never knew that so many people actually get up in early morning to run, this was huge and I realized it now.
Then the rushing cold winds made me realized one more thing its going to be chilling race for me. I was literally shivering and my words seems to froze in the mid of air that’s how I felt. With zero preparation I started my running but realized soon that my legs were feeling like ice blocks  and it felt more like a chain is there between my legs stopping me.
P1020065The freezing cold wind giving me goosebumps in every few seconds. I did more of a walking rather than P1020064running and the pictures there tells the story. People were cheering and music was all around.
We walked most of the miles but it was definitely fun.
                                         FINISH LINE
Before the finish line my body was warmed up it was still chilly but now my legs were feeling good so when we saw finish line we started running.we took a hell lot of time to finish my 10K but the starter always need a push and I was glad we did this together. Kanak was there for me whole time he was doing the whole cheering thing and yes he infected me with running virus.20150328_114349 (2)
