Virginia Beach Half Marathon 2015 - The maiden Half

Running is something which I actually never thought I will be doing as I have always been a non sporty person. I am more of a Sudoku person or a ludo person. But somehow Running came to me differently my hubby motivated me toward it.
The amazing thing about running is that anybody can do it.all you need is a good pair of shoes and you are good that’s exactly what my husband said to me once and it is true!! I started with a mile and later mile got a little addition.
This write up of mine is about my First half marathon in a beautiful place ‘Virginia Beach’.
Day before the Big Day
Most of our weekend are always busy this time it was Virginia Beach. On 5 Sept 2015 morning we set off towards our new destination ‘Virginia Beach Convention Center’ to pick up our race packets. It was looking like a fair out there smiles everywhere. Families together clicking pictures, playing expo free games. We collected our packets clicked many happy clicks, after expo we went to beach which was refreshing and so much fun. Then we took a brief rest at our hotel. All excited and happy for the next day we did a heavy Mexican dinner to get lots of carbs in our body. Then with a happy tummy we came back before taking the good sleep we listed out the things we require tomorrow. I clicked my flat runner (I learned this term from my running friend).
Big Day
6 Sept 2015, 3:30 AM I guess due to excitement I woke before the alarm rang. I tugged myself more to my bed but my husband woke up he started checking his fb page status as day before that he already made sure that the whole world around me knows I am going to do my FIRST half marathon today (or maybe he was just playing his pirate king)!!4:00 AM we both were out of the bed getting ready for the race and we were happy it was the big day for me.
With the little bit of rain and morning breeze we reached to the race place. Clicked pics here n there and short meet up with the training team of mine we headed toward our race. The stories till now i heard about Virginia Beach 1/2 marathon was not pretty. Hot weather and humidity was the villain of many runners in this one but for me weather was not sunny it was cloudy drizzling water drops which cools your body and sometimes a cool breeze it was beautiful run day for me so it made my 1/2 marathon special and my loving husband who always supported me ran with me what could I ask for more!!!!
Drizzle on our side we started our miles together. Training for half marathon made it easy for me to do running n walking!! (for my hubby it s like a piece of cake but he had to take a slow pace because it’s the wife running lol :p ) He actually thought of taking a SLR n clicking pics which was going to be heavy choice so we decided not to.
With music on every miles and he besides me it was the best day for me!! There were many cheerleaders groups and gigantic floaters which was really encouraging and supportive for runners. Honestly i felt the tiredness in me after mile 8 it was more like I wanted to run but my body was resisting so I did my usual run walk through out which was pretty decent. We found a couple who were doing Galloway through their GPS watch we followed them for a little while. My husband started setting goals for me. In between I met with my running friend from training program, which actually brought back my lost energy and I ran like wind at least for a while. After a while I felt my croissant digested and i was hungry o.0; but my husband was fully prepared for all situations he took out the energy gel from his pocket and gave it to me, which again made my battery of running in track!!
With the end of mile 10 an innocent question pop up from my husband ‘how you will you make your 11 sign??’ it made me laugh a bit in my running situation ‘you are my 11 12 13.. You will make it for me’ on 11 mile there was the downhill which gave me a happy feeling. It made me run with more power and when I reached 12 mile I was feeling great. My husband was taking pictures and making videos of me, sometimes when I was like no I will walk this one he will be pushing run you can do it.
12 mile ended and we entered the boardwalk from where i could see finishing line from far, which boost the energy up .he hold my hand and ran with me and posed with every camera man he could scan in the running track (in between i took my walking breaks)
Finish Line Moment
We ran holding hand till the finish line which was amazing….the host there in the end line mentioned us couple in love. ^^ We got our beautiful medal from the cheering volunteers standing there in finish line. With the happy faces, we drank the chocolate milk and grab few freebies. We did our beach therapy walking on the wave and sand that’s a delightful feet experience!!
Proud Achiever
I did it. My First Half Marathon which made me believe it’s not that hard as I thought of it way before when I started running. I am a 1/2 Marathon Finisher that too without any injury!! Yay!! We finished at 3:08:28 with an avg pace 14:23 that’s my pace which I have to compete with now another goal set for me to make it under 3
Learning from Running
Patience is the main trigger of running. Fun thing about Running is that you don’t need to compete with others. Its sets an automatic challenge for you always which is ‘you can do better than this’!!
If I can do it, ANYBODY can do it all you need is a will and you will get your Bling!!
****New Beginning****

PS: Feeling of being a Half Marathon Finisher is amazing it makes me wish formore.New wish in my bucket list to do a marathon before 30!!!
